A Celebration of the American Tap Dance Foundation

A Celebration of The American Tap Dance Foundation will honor it's decades-long sharing of the joy of tap dance through its engagement of dancers/choreographers and tap dance enthusiasts of all ages through year-round education and training programs, performance opportunities, an Artists in Residence Program, premiere concert performances such as Rhythm in Motion, Tap City, the annual New York City Tap Dance Festival and many more activities that supported the tap community, both locally and internationally.  

This special event will include the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Tony Waag, ATDF Founding Artistic/Executive Director, for his 24 years of service, leadership, and inspiration to the tap community.

Supervised by Randy Skinner & Kim Thacker, performers & speakers include Debra Beard, Terry Brock, Brenda Bufalino, Lynn Dally, Barbara Duffy, Jenai Cutcher, Michelle Dorrance, Felipe Galganni, Acia Gray, Deborah Mitchell, Margaret Morrison, Ivan Owens, Adante Power, Lynn Schwab, Tap & Tray (Kurt Albert & Klaus Bleis), Kim Thacker and of course Tony Waag.

Video greetings will also be presented from Chloe & Maud Arnold, DeWitt Fleming Jr., Bill Irwin, Lisa La Touche, Dario Natarelli, Max Pollak, Demi Remick, Caleb Teicher & a host of Brazilians!

Dancers age 5 - 19 tap up a storm with a live jazz trio and special guest performers. Fun for the whole family, the American Tap Dance Foundation's Youth Program invites you to join in celebrating the unique American art form of tap dance.

18th Annual Dance Parade

10,000+ DANCERS, DJS AND LIVE BANDS WILL LIGHT UP NEW YORK CITY!
This year ATDF dancers, students, teachers, parents, families and the entire Tap community can participated in both the Dance Parade and the DanceFest 2024.

The parade begins at 21st & Broadway and then ends in Tompkins Square Park for DanceFest 2024 with free performances and dance instruction. (2-7pm)

This year our very own Tap Master Brenda Bufalino is a Grand Marshal and the American Tap Dance Foundation will have its own float! Similar to last year, dancers will follow the float on foot and perform the Shim Sham in tennis shoes.
(There will be a few “brush up your Shim Sham” rehearsals early May.)

Join us as we celebrate Brenda, the ATDF & National Tap Dance Day! (May 25)

A celebration of the 125th birthday of jazz great Duke Ellington with The Duke Ellington Center Big Band under the musical direction of Eli Yamin. Special guest artist and eight-time Grammy Award winner Arturo O’Farrill will be featured in the evening’s lineup of dancers, vocalists, and surprise guests, including drummer Bobby Sanabria, Broadway veteran Ty Stephens, top tappers AC Lincoln, Max Pollak, Karen Callaway Williams, and jazz singers Antoinette Montague and Marion Cowings. The multiple award-winning icon of New York City cabaret, Sidney Myer, will be narrator for this special event.
